Upon my travels through the streets of Montreal, I came across a neat little denim line called Naked and Famous. Of course, after a few minutes and a quick Google search, I realized this denim line was not so little. I was even more amazed when I came home and found them in High Grade Clothing, right here in the Mall.
So what’s the big deal? What makes this denim line different from the rest? Naked and Famous jeans are made with the finest Japanese denim fabrics out there. Designer Brandon Svarc had a brilliant plan of using denim blended with a wide range of luxurious fabrics including silk, cashmere, camel hair, and more. He’s even played with a number of different twills, weaves and other cool design techniques that would make a fashion major gasp with excitement. Unlike most denim collections out there, Naked and Famous jeans are raw which means they are not pre-washed, pre-embroidery, or fussed with after dyeing. Why is this all good stuff? Basically it means by the time you get your own pair of Naked and Famous jeans, they really are your own. Fading of the fabric is really affected by the person who wears it resulting in a unique, one-of-a-kind pair.
Fit wise, it’s pretty fantastic. Because of the way it’s been constructed, the problems of over stretching and bagging are really non-existent. Each time you slip on your Naked and Famous jeans, they fit like it’s the first time. These jeans come in three different styles to suit your personality – the Weird Guy (low rise, tapered leg), the Slim Guy (straight leg), and the Skinny Guy (skinny leg). This line is also extremely affordable and not to mention, made in Canada!

Skinny Guy Left Hand Twill Denim, $140.
– Left handed twill weaves are characterized by the “s” pattern in the weave. It tends to wear down softer and has a much softer feel than right hand twill.
Weird Guy Raspberry Scratch N Sniff Denim, $150.
- Believe it or not, this Scratch N Sniff denim actually works and gives off a light raspberry scent. It lasts up to five washes.
Skinny Guy Wax Coated Denim, $140.
- The wax coating gives it a nice sheen that makes this pair look like high fashion denim. With this pair, you have the ability to change the look of them simply by wearing it. After a while, you’ll notice subtle contrast between shiny and matte finishes.
